"SUPER" NEWS

March 13, 2025

I hope you are all enjoying a long weekend and spending time together as a family. The fourth quarter of school begins March 18, and I know the weeks will fly by until the end of school.

Please encourage your child to work hard. There is still time to learn new things and achieve goals. The Pirates have had many achievements in the last week. Some of them are highlighted below, and I can't wait to see what the Pirates do during the fourth quarter!

Be safe. Be respectful. Be responsible. Be kind!

Pirate Proud!

Kindergarten Ready

Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Where and when does learning begin? Learning begins at home when your child is just an infant.

Do you have a child at home who has not yet enrolled in school? Do you have a friend, family member, or co-worker who has a child not yet enrolled in school? Following are valuable resources for you, or to share with someone you know.

"From birth to age 5, the learning that happens every day prepares your child for Kindergarten and life beyond school.  Kindergarten readiness means more than just knowing your ABCs and 1,2,3s. Things like learning to share, and learning to practice self-control are also Kindergarten readiness skills." Check out https://www.preschoolpromise.org/kra for more information.

"Be Ready by 5 connects families to resources in Montgomery County, Ohio that help prepare children aged 0-5 for success in Kindergarten and beyond." Check out bereadyby5.org for resources.

BPA Advance to National Competition

High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) students competed in the State Competition on March 10 and March 11. The students set a record for the most medals and trophies ever earned at the State Competition! The Middle School started a BPA chapter this year and the video team received 1st place, and the presentation team received 3rd place at the State Competition. The state rankings qualify five High School students and the two Middle School teams to advance to the National Competition in May! CLICK HERE to find out more about these amazing Pirates!!

Student/Staff Basketball Game Raises Money

Basketball Players

The annual Student/Staff Basketball game is always a fun event at the High School, and it's all for a good cause! For just $1, students could purchase a ticket to watch the game and see who would win. The students? The staff? This year the staff won 35 to 26, but the big winner was the American Cancer Society. All of the money raised was donated to their organization. Way to go Pirates!

High School Parent / Student Orientation

High School Parent / Student Orientation

This event will allow our incoming 9th graders, next year's 10th graders and their parents to learn about these opportunities as well as ask questions about their options. The event is scheduled specifically for March 26th so students will have a better understanding of what is available to them when they complete the scheduling process. CLICK HERE to find out more.

Be Kind

What is an act of kindness? It can be a smile. It can be as simple as telling someone to have a nice day. Sometimes it can be doing something to help another while also being a role model. We recently received the following email:

I wanted to send an e-mail to express appreciation and recognize the driver of bus 4 and her aide, Ms. Tammy.  My daughter rides bus 4 home from Schnell each day and today she came in the door to tell me a story of kindness.  On their route home today, the bus driver and Ms. Tammy spotted a man that had fallen out of his wheelchair and was struggling to get back in it.  They stopped the bus and Ms. Tammy offered to assist him while the driver remained on the bus with the students.  When Ms. Tammy was done helping him, they resumed their route home.  My daughter said she was happy to be home a few minutes later than usual because it was to help someone else and the man may have been stuck had they not stopped.  While the driver and Ms. Tammy may not have thought much of what they did, my daughter was really proud of them.  Please send them our appreciation for displaying such kindness and compassion towards others, and sharing that with students like my daughter.

We appreciate the act of kindness this parent did by sending us this email, and we are proud to have employees who show kindness and help others in need.

What have you done to be kind to someone today?
