Happy Valentines Day!

The love of kindness, joy, and acceptance creates a nurturing foundation for all students. In a world where children learn and grow daily, the warmth of compassion and encouragement makes all the difference. Fostering an environment of kindness, children feel safe to explore, express themselves, and develop a love for learning. Joy flourishes when children experience laughter, shared moments, and a sense of belonging in their environments.

Acceptance reassures every child that they are valued for who they are, embracing their unique strengths and challenges. When we unite in these values, we create a community where children thrive—one built on respect, empathy, and support. By choosing kindness, spreading joy, and practicing acceptance, we shape a future where every child feels seen, heard, and deeply loved, ensuring they grow with confidence and a heart full of possibility.

Great books for the season!

Feeling Sick

Sneezing? Coughing? Taking a sick day? Don’t worry, you’ll be feeling better soon thanks to this hilarious picture book from Coy Bowles, guitarist of the Grammy Award–winning Zac Brown Band. Full of encouraging—and super-silly—rhyming advice on how to face sick days with courage and a positive attitude, When You’re Feeling Sick is just what the doctor ordered! Comes with a sheet of stickers to bring a smile to every sick kid’s face.

Stripes

Poor Camilla Cream is so worried about pleasing everybody! She decides not to eat lima beans at school in case the other kids make fun of her but suddenly comes down with a bad case of stripes. No one knows where it came from or how to cure it. Suddenly, Camilla is changing at every person's suggestion. It cannot be stopped until Camilla decides to just be herself.

Do you need a winter coat for your child?

Through a generous donation from Domtar, who donated over 100 coats to our district, we have winter coats for our students who need them. Please stop by the office or reach out to Nicole Meyer ((937) 859-5121  x3780 or nmeyer@wcsd.k12.oh.us) to obtain a coat or to discuss other needs you may have! We strive to ensure that our students are supported and cared for both inside and outside the classroom!

Flu Season

Influenza Information for Schools

Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County is reporting that seasonal influenza activity for Montgomery County  and the state of Ohio is classified as Very High.

Public Health has received numerous questions from school and daycare staff and would like to provide the  following guidance:  https://5il.co/37ryw

If your child is sent home from the nurse due to illness, especially if they have a fever, please keep them home as long as needed to help them get better. Their absence is considered excused!

OUTDOOR RECESS

Living in Ohio can sometimes limit our time outdoors, but fresh air is so beneficial for everyone. Your child will have the opportunity to go outside whenever the weather permits—specifically when it’s 32 degrees or above and there’s no precipitation. Please ensure they’re dressed appropriately for these conditions.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if your child needs a coat, hat, or gloves. Thanks to the generosity of our community members, we can help provide these essential items.
