Happy Holidays

As the school year comes to a close, we reflect on the growth, achievements, and experiences that have shaped this year. Your children have worked hard, learning not only academics but also valuable life skills such as perseverance, teamwork, and kindness. Their curiosity and resilience have been inspiring, and we are so proud of their progress.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and partnership. Your involvement has made a significant impact on their success and overall school experience.

This time of year is also an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments and set new goals for the future. As summer approaches, we encourage you to spend quality time together, fostering curiosity and joy in everyday learning.

Thank you for being part of our school community. We wish you and your families a restful, safe, and enjoyable break.

Latkes and Applesauce

Latkes and Applesauce

The Menashes love latkes and applesauce during Hanukkah. But a blizzard begins and erases any hope that they'll harvest potatoes and apples in time. When a stray cat and dog show up, there's not a lot of food to offer them, but kindness prevails, and they're invited in. It turns out that the dog--Latke--and the cat--Applesauce--save the day.

pop tops

We collected more than 30,000 pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charity!

It’s not just an urban myth; the Ronald McDonald House really does collect the aluminum pop tabs from cans. We can generate thousands of dollars from our pop tab collection program every year, and that helps us keep the lights on! That’s important for our House, which is open 24 hours/day, 365 days a year. And it wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic support of children and adults who faithfully collect the tabs. It’s an easy way to do something good and make a difference in the life of a seriously ill child. To learn more about the program, visit RMHC Dayton!

Beginning in January, I will be spending time at Russell as we prepare to combine the two buildings for the opening of West Carrollton Elementary School in the 2025–2026 school year. Dr. Dauterman and I will be sharing responsibilities between both buildings, giving the Schnell community an opportunity to get to know her as well. Our schedule will be:

MWF: Thobe @ Schnell, Dauterman @ Russell

TR: Thobe @ Russell, Dauterman @ Schnell

Feel free to reach out to either of us if you have any questions or concerns.

OUTDOOR RECESS

Living in Ohio can sometimes limit our time outdoors, but fresh air is so beneficial for everyone. Your child will have the opportunity to go outside whenever the weather permits—specifically when it’s 32 degrees or above and there’s no precipitation. Please ensure they’re dressed appropriately for these conditions.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if your child needs a coat, hat, or gloves. Thanks to the generosity of our community members, we can help provide these essential items.
