Happy Holidays

The season of giving is a wonderful time to teach elementary students the joy of generosity and compassion. Families can embrace this spirit by involving children in meaningful activities, such as donating toys, clothes, or food to those in need. Participating in community service, writing holiday cards for elderly neighbors, or creating small, handmade gifts fosters empathy and creativity.

Parents can also encourage children to express gratitude by reflecting on the blessings they’ve received throughout the year. By making giving a family tradition, children learn the value of kindness, strengthening their connection to their community and the true meaning of the season.

I Don't Celebrate Anything

by Donna Neumann

"Why don't you celebrate Christmas?"

It’s the holiday season and everyone is celebrating. Everyone except Annie. She’s seen her friends’ funny looks and heard their whispers behind her back:

“Annie doesn’t celebrate anything.”
“Not Christmas, not Hanukkah. Nothing.”
“No presents at all.”
“No presents? On purpose?”
“Her family is so weird.”

It isn’t Annie’s fault her family doesn’t celebrate any holiday. But are her friends right? Is her family weird?

I Don't Celebrate Anything is the perfect book for helping non religious children understand holidays, through the story of a family of porcupines. Fully illustrated with fun artwork and a message of caring, this children's book is the perfect holiday read.

OUTDOOR RECESS

Living in Ohio sometimes limits our ability to go outside, but the fresh air is good for our souls. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to go outside as long as the weather permits. If the temperature is 32 degrees or higher, and there is no precipitation, we will be going outside!
